The store which underwent extensive renovations and remodeling, features a wide range of fresh produce, meats and seafood. The deli section is completed stocked with homemade salads and specialty items. The store is open seven days a week and is open Monday thru Saturday from 7am-9pm and 7am-7pm on Sundays. The deli departments offer delivery for prepared foods only to Point Lookout homes from 9am-9pm. Delivery for beach is limited to 9am-5pm with deliveries every hour on the hour where guests must come to the main beach entrance for pickup.
“The IGA logo is ‘Hometown Pride’ and that’s what we’re aspiring to be" said owner Nick Trabusi. He went on to say; “It is very sad and unfortunate what happened to Merolas. We are glad to see the return of familiar faces to the store. With the store remaining empty, I had a strong suspicion that it might go by the wayside and not become another supermarket, which would’ve hurt the town. When no one else wanted to do it… I just had to do it. We just need everybody’s support”.
Based on residents requests and input, the remodeled and expanded store offers a full range of products and services, including an abundance of fresh and organic produce; natural food selections; a fully staffed meat department featuring the highest quality meats; a fresh seafood department; a bakery overflowing with aromas of freshly baked breads; and a full-service delicatessen with items made daily for shoppers on the go.
The remodeled store continues the 80+ year tradition of serving shoppers in Point Lookout and the surrounding communities. Merola's opened their doors initially in 1929 between Cedarurst and Freeport Ave on the block currectly occupied by Skipperdees, before moving to Aggie's location.
